Pilobolus – Shadowland

Pilobolus is known around the globe for its imaginative, athletic exploration that mixes humor, invention, physicality and drama to create a dance vocabulary all its own. Shadowland is a universal and intimately portrayed experience that is both intensely dramatic and comedic, centered around the surreal experience of a young girl’s sensational world as she comes of age. Shadowland is the first theatrical event of its kind to tour the globe, combining multimedia, projected shadow play and front-of-screen choreography in a wild evening of storytelling that is uniquely Pilobolus. Set to a rhythmic original score, the songs illuminate the themes and visuals of this fascinating world.

Pre-show lecture:  7 P.M., Philips Lecture Hall, led by Cal Poly Dance professor Diana Stanton.

“Bodies become imagery and one image merges into another, poetically, inexplicably … It’s as if we’re being given a fleeting glimpse of the inner workings of the universe.” – New York Times
