The celebrated cult author of four collections of short stories, a novella, and a book of essays is a past recipient of a MacArthur Foundation Genius grant and a Guggenheim Fellowship. Saunders’ work is read regularly in The New Yorker, GQ, and Harper’s Magazine and his pieces have appeared in numerous anthologies; his “Tenth of December” won both a Story and Folio Prize. In 2013, Saunders was named one of the “100 Most Influential People in the World” by TIME magazine. His recently released first novel, “Lincoln in the Bardo,” from which he will read in this appearance, became an instant New York Times best-seller.
“(A) master of joy bombs: little explosions of grin-stimulating genius that he buries throughout his deeply thoughtful, endlessly entertaining flights of imagination.”
